• Arrived in Lima & the Peruvian Govt. will not let us off the plane until they check each of us for swine flue.

• The original Inca City Cusco is amazing. I think I could stay here forever.

• I bought a Peruvian hat to look less like a tourist. I don’t think its working so well.

• Want to know how to make friends in a foreign country: with booze.

• Peruvian hippies are chill, I’m just not that chill.

• I just stole a pen from the US Embassy is this going to jeopardized my citizenship?

• I’m blown away by the breakdancing moves of these Lima kids.

• Went out for ceviche in Lima to celebrate Mike’s PhD. In true Mary & Mike fashion, we had way too much to eat and drink.

Earth’s climate is changing. The earth is warming and weather patterns are shifting. And, science has proven over and over that its a result of human actions; not natural occurrences.

We’ve already seen major changes like the melting of glaciers, increase in the number of forest fires and the consequences societies are facing due to severe storms and droughts.

What can we do?

We can all make small changes to our daily lives and these small changes will add up to big differences. Better public engagement will make for better policy making. We need the Environmental Protection Agency to get back to working for a cleaner, healthier environment.

I Just Got Laid

Off that is. Yes, that’s right I’ve involuntary joined the ranks of 11.1 million unemployed Americans. You can label it what you want laid off, down-sized, let go, axed, terminated, canned, dismissed...Fired! It is all the same I no long have any place to be 9-5 Monday - Friday.

Am I worried? Yes. Am I going to be depressed and come to hate everyone and everything in this world? No. I’m actually relieved. Now it looks like I can take as much time as I like over the holiday season.

Looks like I'll need to put this documentary on my Netflix que --- Fired!

Change Has Come To America

Yes We Can

Today, I jumped out of bed put on something blue and rushed out to the polls to be first inline. On my way out the door, I realized someone had stolen my Obama yard sign and replaced it with a McCain sign. I didn’t let this incident ruin my favorite day that only comes around every 4 years. I voted! And I voted with hope instead of fear.

But now that this exciting election season is coming to an end, I’m not sure what I’m going to do with myself after today. I’ve spent the last 9 months reading political blogs, staring at polls, volunteering for Maine Dems, and arguing with all and any republicans, and now it’s about to be over.

This has be an epic election season and I’m glad that I’ve played a part in all this excitement. I hope I don’t go through election withdrawals, but I’ll be back in full political swing in 2012.
